Top 10 money-making business ideas for YOU

I don't know about you, but I'm at a point in my life when I'm passionate about finding ideas that work. Instead of merely discussing our problems - the rent that needs to be paid at the end of the month, the groceries we need to buy or our increasing debts, we need practical solutions.

Many of us have attended countless workshops on wealth-creation and eagerly listened to all sorts of motivational speeches, promises and prophecies of imminent grandeur. But we now need something more.

What we're looking for are ideas that will help pay the bills, cover the rent and put food on the table. If this has been your desire, you've come the right place.
Here is a list of top ten business ideas that might just change your fortunes... literally. And, you won't need a lot of capital to get started!

1. Tutoring
Chances are high that there's someone out there who struggles with something that you're really good at. It could be Math, English, Science or even a Computer course. You can make use of your expertise or that A+ in Biology by helping students pass with flying colors, while generating an income for yourself. Most people are willing to pay whatever is necessary to ensure that they pass an important exam.

If you are a musical genius, you can start a music class in the comfort of your own home. Showbiz is a very big deal for a lot of people, so you can offer vocal training, piano lessons (or any other instruments that you're great at). Acting lessons for beginners are a fantastic option too. And as a bonus, helping others will make you feel great and do wonders for your self-esteem.

2.  Freelance writing
So you are the creative type and enjoy writing? Well, you could turn that into a rewarding business venture through freelance writing. You can easily submit some of your best work to magazines, newspapers and blogs, and get paid for it.

Blogs like Reverb Press, Write Naked and The Write Life pay for well-written articles. This way, you make money doing what you love. Feel free to click on the links and check out their sites.

3. Graphic design
If you are an artist and have mastered programs like Corel Draw, Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, you probably should consider pursuing graphic design at a professional level.

A lot of companies depend on graphic designers for their logo designs, banners, posters, and even bill boards. Graphic design can also be really fun. You may need to regularly upgrade your skills due to advancements in software and design trends. It's important in this line of business to always be current, and if possible, a step ahead of the rest.

4. Catering
You don't have to be Gordon Ramsey or Jamie Oliver to make money from cooking. As long as you're a whiz in the kitchen and can handle working under pressure, you can have a very successful business in catering. You can offer to provide meals for corporate events, parties and weddings for a fee.

You can also bake and sell your signature cookies, cakes and pies to grocery shops and individuals. Just be original in your cooking and packaging and you're good to go! No one wants to pay for a badly packaged or unappetizing product. It also helps A LOT if your food tastes and smells heavenly!

5.  Sewing or tailoring
I personally have never really learned how to use a sewing machine, so I have no idea how to alter my clothes so that they fit better. As a result, I often find myself in desperate need of the services of a good tailor.

If sewing or tailoring is your cup of tea, you can offer to make, alter or mend clothes for a bit of cash. You may take your business a step further by giving sewing classes to people like me, who don't know the difference between a straight stitch and a running stitch.

6. Hairdressing
Most women, if they're anything like me, love their hair and will do just about anything to make sure it always looks picture perfect. So, this is likely to be a huge money-maker if you are a pro in hairdressing.

You can also offer special services to bridal parties or girls going to the Prom, or carry out a "50% off for a group of 5 friends" promotion.  That way you attract a whole lot more clients and get your name on everyone's lips. Just make sure you're talked about for all the right reasons afterwards!

7. Make-up artistry
Make-up artistry is without a doubt  one of the hottest things around nowadays. If you're good with a makeup brush, mascara wand and lip stick, you might just  start a business in that field. All you need is a great make-up kit and a full set of brushes, and voila! It's showtime!

You can host pamper parties for bachelorete and pajama parties, and charge a fee for your services. You can also get brides and prom girls dolled up for their big day. Giving free make-overs might be a great way to get the public's attention and show off your skills. Work to impress. A happy client will spread the word and win you more business. The opposite is true too. You don't want to be the talk of the town for making someone look like Godzilla.

8. Electrical repairs
Everyone has had a  moment at some point in their life when their phone or computer just won't start... Usually right before an important meeting or presentation. That's where you come in - if electronics are your thing.

You can fix broken phones, washing machines, irons, stoves, wall sockets... the list is endless. And the money goes straight into your wallet!
9. Website creation
Creating websites for companies, organizations, churches and so forth is a great way to make some cash. A lot of business Executives I've come across are willing to invest large amounts of money in a high quality website, because marketing really is everything. And an attractive website helps their businesses do just that.

Personal websites have also become very popular lately, so you can get good business from individuals who want to get their names and brands out there.  Don't be afraid to be adventurous, innovative and creative. Originality always sells! Check out www.alison.com for a free online web design diploma if you need one!

10.  Handyman services
If you're a whiz in household repairs and maintenance, this one is just for you! Handyman (or handy-woman) services can include paint jobs, putting up wall paper, removing old carpets and tiles, replacing burnt out light-bulbs and so forth.

It's a fun but sometimes physically demanding way to make money. You may need to stand for hours while painting, putting up wall paper etc, so be sure you are strong enough to handle the work.

Please note: these are not listed in any particular order. Your level of success will be determined by your talents, commitment and diligence. You are likely to reap the greatest rewards doing something that you enjoy.

All the best!
